FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 1, 2006
Dr. Nissan Kahen and Paul Parviz Kahen announce
growing enrollment for Honored Citizens Choice Health Plan,
Inc. dba Citizens Choice Healthplan HMO in Los Angeles County.
Having
been in private practice since 1984, Dr. Nissan Kahen saw
the need for a Medicare Advantage Plan that served his community,
patients and providers. Paul Parviz Kahen had concerns about
the administrative “red tape” and
unnecessary delays embedded in the fee-for-service Medicare
system. They believed that Medicare should provide all beneficiaries
with better, appropriate and efficient health insurance options,
including preventive care and prescription drug coverage.
Through Citizens Choice Healthplan HMO (CCHP), the Kahens continue
their long-standing commitment to providing each and every
member with necessary, sufficient and appropriate health
and medical care that is second-to-none.
Dr. Kahen started
providing health and medical care to his patients through
South Atlantic Medical Group (SAMG), in the heart of East
Los Angeles in 1984. Paul Parviz Kahen assumed Administrator
duties for SAMG shortly thereafter. In 1990, they began to
expand SAMG facilities and by 1991 SAMG comprised a total
of five medical centers throughout Los Angeles County. Their
goal was to open medical centers in areas that include underserved
patients who needed a welcoming physician with supportive
staff that understand fully the health and medical needs
of patients.
Dr. Kahen has served
as Chairman of CCHP since 2004. Paul Parviz Kahen is CCHP’s
President and CEO. Under their leadership, CCHP has grown
rapidly and is well prepared to direct the delivery of health
care services for the Medicare and Medicare/Medi-Cal (Medi-Medi)
beneficiaries in the health plans immediate service area.
Since its inception, CCHP’s
physician network has expanded to include a number of Independent
Practice Associations (IPAs) representing over 1000 Primary
Care Physicians and Specialists as well as a number of community
based hospitals and a wide range of ancillary services.
CCHP
is committed to innovation and delivery system improvements.
This commitment enables CCHP to deliver quality and appropriate
health and medical care in a financially challenging environment.
Dr. Kahen is proud that the members of CCHP have confidence
in knowing that they are cared for by some of the best physicians
in Southern California. He believes the combination of the
zero-co-payment and zero-premium benefit plan and the strategic
partnerships with select IPAs in their network enhances the
services and programs available to its members. It’s
a win for all involved.
The CCHP zero-co-payment benefit plan includes no cost to
members for doctor visits, specialist visits, inpatient hospital
care, vision care exams, routine hearing tests, well women
exams and 12 round trip transportation services to and from
patient’s appointments. CCHP’s drug benefit requires
a $5 co-payment for generic drugs and a $20 co-payment for
brand name drugs. The CCHP Medicare Advantage Plan includes
many other benefits and services that are not offered in
traditional Medicare coverage.
